IMPORTANT NOTE
Hawthorne Hills Homeowners' Association Board approval is required for any fence construction or lot improvement as stated in section 5 of our covenants (www.hawthornehills.org/covenants.htm or on page 5 of your directory). The board has assumed the role of the developer in these covenants. Even if the city has approved your plan, board approval is needed prior to beginning any changes of this nature in addition to city approval.

Annual Garage Sale
The annual garage sale will be held on Saturday, June 11. Although this event is not sponsored by the Hawthorne Hills Homeowners' Association, many residents look forward to and participate in it. Remember, there will be extra traffic on this day. Please be careful and watch for pedestrians.

Constitution Trail
We continue to raise concerns to the city about the safety of the crossing of Constitutional Trail at the intersection of GE Road and Crimson. Given the limited visibility and traffic, we have asked for stop signs to be added to the trail to prevent bike riders and pedestrians from crossing Crimson without pausing. The city has declined these requests. Eitan Weltman will continue to press the safety issues with the city.

Recent Improvements

  • A fountain and landscaping have been added to the south dam along GE road. This project is still in progress
  • Work will begin soon to improve our Airport Road entrances, beginning with the Wisteria entrance

Questions From Residents

Question: Should we upgrade the playground equipment in the park?

HHHA Board: The current equipment is in good repair and with 3 parks nearby (Tipton Trails, Clearwater, and McGraw), expanding our park equipment is not planned at this time.

Question: Should we pursue getting the same mailboxes for all homes to give a uniform appearance to the neighborhood?

HHHA Board: This would be a significant expenditure and we would have to consider that some residences have already upgraded their mailboxes. As discussed in our 2004 annual meeting, any homeowner who would like to form a committee to look into this further, can attend one of our monthly board meetings to discuss.

Topics such as these are excellent annual meeting material. Any resident who would like to lead a discussion on these or other items can provide them in writing to a board member to secure agenda time at the annual meeting or a monthly board meeting.

Newsletter
We are giving serious consideration to shifting the default delivery of this newsletter to e-mail and only sending paper copies to residents who request it starting in 2006. This change could result in significant postage savings and will be discussed at our annual meeting. E-mail Kelly Thul (kthul@hotmail.com ) if you have any comments about this proposed change.
